On October 30-31, 2012, the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies and CFR convened the first Council of Councils regional conference: Asia at the Crossroads: Regional Priorities for the Twenty-First Century.
On October 30–November 1, 2016, the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) and CFR convened the ninth Council of Councils regional conference, Regional Security in a Turbulent World, in Berlin, Germany.
On December 12-13, 2012, the Institute of Contemporary Development and CFR convened the second Council of Councils regional conference: Russia, Europe, and the Future of Global Governance.
On November 24–26, 2013, the Mexican Council on Foreign Relations, the Getulio Vargas Foundation, and CFR convened the fourth Council of Councils regional conference, in conjunction with the Hemispheric Meeting of Councils on International Relations: The Future of the Americas in Global Governance.
On September 8–10, 2013, the Italian Institute of International Affairs and CFR convened the third Council of Councils regional conference: Europe and the Future of Global Governance.
On February 23–25, 2014, the Lowy Institute for International Policy and CFR convened the fifth Council of Councils regional conference, with a focus on the Asia Pacific region.
On September 28-30, 2014, the Centre for International Governance Innovation and CFR convened the sixth Council of Councils regional conference, with a focus on managing the global commons.
On January 11-13, 2015, Observer Research Foundation and CFR convened the seventh Council of Councils regional conference, Crisis in Global Governance: Reform or Reset?
On October 7-9, 2018, the East Asia Institute (EAI) and CFR convened the eleventh Council of Councils regional conference, Adapting to a Changing Order in Asia, in Seoul, South Korea.
